"Thank you for including us in this amazing project. I so admire your never ending enthusiasm and drive. You didn't allow any barriers and you showed us all that everything is possible if you want it enough. What a first rate work experience for all our students!!" Kathy Mountford, careers and enrichment co-ordinator, Heanor Gate Science College.

OUR ETHOS

Over the 3 years that we have been operating we have produced many exciting shows as well as a feature film made with over 170 young people. Our ethos is always to have a big showcase as a celebration event at the end of the project, whether it be a static exhibition, a staged performance, a fashion show, or a full length feature film (as we did last year at The Broadway Cinema red carpet showing of our Right Up My Street film). We believe doing this challenges young people to extend their experience, knowledge and skills and inspires them to reach the heights of their potential far more than sitting behind a desk and doing exams. Although our work revolves around the Arts in all forms, we believe that using the Arts to inform other curriculum areas provides young people with an exciting way of learning Literacy, Business, Numeracy etc. and creates confident, patient and erudite young people who are able to work as part of a team, are courageous, determined and motivated.

Funding

As a company Greenshoots has attracted funding from many bodies over the last three years. We have also worked with many schools both in their premises and outside with our industry partners or in council studios or, indeed, on location.

We are very grateful to have received funding from Derbyshire County Council, Nottinghamshire County and City Councils, The Mighty Creatives, Lottery funding, EM media and are working tirelessly to carry on providing these opportunities FREE to all,no matter what background or disability.

Working
partners

We have worked with Nottingham University, Nottingham University Samworth Academy, Landau Forte College, Derby, Heanorgate Science College, Fernwood Comprehensive, Nottingham Academy, Redhill Academy, Eskdale Primary school, Ilkeston Ormiston Academy, Bennerley Ormiston Academy, Kirk Hallam Community College, Eastwood Comprehensive, Sutton Community College and Bramcote Park School.

Tailor-made Projects

Through negotiation with each school we can tailor make a project that can help them deliver a modern, diverse curriculum using our links with industry professionals. In some we have taken dedicated groups that are struggling with a particular curriculum area (notably engaging young people with Literacy), some have used us to give young people work-based learning, some have provided enrichment projects through us, we have helped with Transition and we can also provide accreditation through Arts Award (and we are looking to extend this soon).

Student Success

We are proud to say that we have nutured many young people on their career paths and can confidently state that we have young adults that are now successfully working within the Cutural Sector or are currently at University having found their vocation on a Greenshoots' project.

Let Us Give Your Group Something Inspirational

We are always keen to extend our working partners, so if you think we could help a group of young people that you are involved with at a school or community group,or if you are interested in signing a group up to our National Citizen Service residential, you could contact us with your ideas on our contact page.
